For registration and schedule information, visit here.

After the successful revival of the New Zealand Skateboard Nationals in November 2022, Skateboarding New Zealand Incorporated (SBNZ) is looking forward to growing the event in 2023 with Event Directors Tairawhiti Adventure Trust (TAT).

Tairawhiti Adventure Trust will again host the Skateboard Nationals competition at Alfred Cox Skatepark in Gisborne on September 28 to October 1, 2023. October 1 is the rain day.

After great success with the 2022 Nationals, and with such fantastic hospitality and manakitanga provided by Tairawhiti Adventure Trust to skateboarders and supporters from all over New Zealand, SBNZ is excited about the event to begin held at their fantastic facility again in 2023.

SBNZ will continue to manage rider communications, registrations and officiating the event. TAT will take care of all sponsorship and operational responsibilities. The 2022 Nationals received a wide range of coverage and public interest.

We look forward to working with TAT and its partners to ensure skateboarding continues to grow and prosper in an accessible and positive way through this event.

The 2023 Nationals will have three disciplines; Vert will join Street and Park disciplines. Gisborne’s Alfred Cox Skatepark is the only venue in New Zealand suitable to hold all three formats in one location. We have added a day to the schedule to allow for the extra discipline.

This early announcement is intended to help regional event organisers, skateboarders and supporters from across Aotearoa make plans in the lead-up to the 2023 Skateboard Nationals to ensure it accurately represents all of Aotearoa.

More information about the qualification process and schedule will follow.

All entry and rider enquiries can be directed to Amber Clyde (‭027 581 6773‬, amber@skateboarding.nz) or Sonia Griffin (sonia@skateboarding.nz) of Skateboarding New Zealand.

All sponsorship and operational enquiries can be directed to Haimona Ngata (‭021 515 192‬, haimona@haimonangata.com) and Amy Spence (Amy@blackfig.co.nz) of Tairawhiti Adventure Trust.

Ngā mihi nui,
